We’re not quite into October yet, but this year more than any other, there’s one thing playing on people’s mind already – Christmas.
There are nearly 12 weeks to go until Christmas Day in the strangest year ever, and amid so much uncertainty it’s predicted people will start their shopping and preparations earlier than ever before, which means it’s time to get your festive skates on with packaging!
Presentation packaging is a key marketing strategy for many brands at Christmas. Special edition packaging and sampling packs disguised as Advent calendars have become a much-loved part of our seasonal shopping and gifting habits.
Lead times for these deluxe and specialist boxes mean that now is the time to finalise your brand’s design process to have your festive packaging on shelves before the Christmas rush – and this could happen even sooner than usual as shoppers scramble to get their shopping done early in case of further regional or even countrywide lockdowns.
With more restrictions being imposed again, we’re all likely to turn to online shopping in a bid to save Christmas – and for premium drinks brands, that means there’s increased need for sturdy presentation packaging that protects their products in transit, and gives the customer a memorable experience when they receive it in the post.
Case study: Riverside Spirits advent calendar
We’re reminiscing about this beautiful boxed Advent calendar which we created last year for Riverside Spirits, a Cheshire-based brand specialising in tantalising liqueurs with vodka, gin, rum and whisky bases. The brand’s botanical image was replicated on the exterior of the box, with the grasses and reeds of the riverside replaced by hand painted winter foliage and berries, and a whimsical typeface finished in a shimmering shade of green. Behind each door was a different liqueur, including a few one-off flavours developed just for the festive season!

It takes around 8 weeks to develop a new presentation packaging line from concept to delivery, which means that time really is of the essence if you want your packaging delivered to you ahead of planned Christmas distribution schedules.
