We’re raising a glass to some exciting news at Clyde Presentation Packaging — our wooden box project for Skellig Six18’s Dark Sky Reserve has been announced as a finalist at the London Packaging Week Innovation Awards 2025!

This project was a real labour of love. The brief was to create a packaging solution that not only protected and presented the whiskey but also captured the essence of Skellig Six18’s story: rooted in the dramatic Irish landscape, inspired by the celestial wonder of the Kerry International Dark Sky Reserve, and crafted with the same dedication that goes into every drop of their spirit.

The result? A custom wooden box that reflects premium quality, meticulous craftsmanship, and sustainability — values that both Skellig Six18 and Clyde hold close. Every detail, from the materials to the finishing touches, was chosen to elevate the brand while offering consumers an unforgettable unboxing experience.

Being recognised at the Innovation Awards is a huge honour for our team. It’s not just about the design itself but about the innovation, storytelling, and collaboration that went into making this project a reality.

We’re absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted alongside so many talented packaging specialists and brands, and we can’t wait to celebrate with the industry at the Awards Ceremony this October.

A big congratulations to all the other finalists — it’s inspiring to see so much creativity and craftsmanship in packaging today.

Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing updates from the ceremony later this year!

One of our recent client projects is a perfect example of how packaging can tell your brand story. Hellfire Brand Club approached us with a unique challenge: to create a custom, high-end presentation box for Skellig Irish Whiskey‘s Dark Sky Reserve

It had to be a true representation of the whiskey’s premium quality, craftsmanship, and the rich story behind its creation. The client was clear that they needed a packaging solution that would not only stand out visually but also provide an experience for the consumer – elevating the anticipation and excitement of receiving and opening such a fine product.

We started by sourcing premium solid oak, selected for its weight and natural beauty, which immediately gave the box the right presence and durability. The outside stain and varnish provided a sleek, sophisticated finish while allowing the grain of the wood to shine through.

The challenge was to make the design elements as striking as the product itself, so we incorporated pinstripe foiling and foiled logos both inside and outside the box, as requested. The areas of hot stamping were meticulously executed to ensure that each detail, from the Skellig logo to the subtle, intricate accents, was bold yet refined.

Additionally, for the interior, we included a mirror with a stamped logo to tie into the brand story. This elevated the overall sense of luxury, allowing customers to engage with the product in a visually stunning way. We also created a practical and elegant drawer at the base of the box to hold a set of Valentia slate coasters and an informational booklet, further enhancing the tactile experience of the unboxing process.

The base plate and neck collar was chosen to provide a luxurious feel, ensuring the contents were cradled securely. Every detail, from the heavy clasp for closure to the precise finish on the foiling, was executed with care, elevating the experience of opening the box to an unforgettable level of luxury.
